I had surgery last week and stayed in the hospital for 3 nights. I cannot say thank you enough for the excellent service I received in the hospital, specifically the maternity ward. Dr Spangenberg and the rest of the theater team were incredible too.
Dr Adriaan Slabbert Lenmed Kimberley had to check in on me in Highcare for 2 days while my physician was away. I have MG and asthma. He was cold. Dismissive. Stopped all treatment without discussion or explanation. Wasting my medical aid, my health, my treatment. Leaving me extremely tired, I pain and without breath. Wish I could give him zero.
The hospital promised to look into this matter. It us now March 2026 and still not a word from them...

    1) Try phoning the hospital to get hold of anyone.... not possible
    2) The whatsapp they send you with a link does not work....
    3) Trying to get hold of a patient and information on the patient is impossible and nobody answers the phones.

The Nursing care of the Majority of Nurses especially Night Nurses IN labour ward is PATHETIC to say the Least!! You can NOT act on a First time Mommies Questions as if she is Stupid!!! How can you put a suppository next to a Mommy after a C-section and Walk Out!!! Just to name a Few of the things. If the Management don't ACT on the bad ATTITUDE of their staff it can do Much Harm to the image of the hospital. I must say being a Proffesional Nurse myself I was Ashamed to even be Associated with the profession 🙈
Dr Spangenberg and Dr Peens both are Amazing and will DEFINITELY advice ANYONE looking for a Gynea to go to Dr Spangenberg 🙌🏻

I was very satisfied with my stay. The staff were extremely friendly and well trained. They were quick to respond to my needs. The drip medicine were changed frequently. I went because I was having a miscarriage and the sisters treated me with so much sympathy. Dr. Britz was very nice and made me feel understood and safe. The theatre staff were very nice. The whole hospital is amazing, from the reception staff all the way to the cleaners. Thank you Lenmed for being there in a difficult time.

I won’t say it’s a bad hospital but whoever was in charge of the menu from 21-08-2025 till 23-08-2025 really did a pretty bad job , the worst hospital food I’ve ever had even worse I asked the lady about their menu and this was all her suggestions however my friend says she got better food and treatment so I guess overall it’s not so bad but please how can you offer such a little amount of food to people who just gave birth like you dont know the hunger that comes there after even worse if you’ve had a Caesarian to even offer them beans ??? That’s absurd.

I hope to get better treatment next time if ever i choose the same gynae again or even the same province still recommend Medi Clinic Bloemfontein

On Thursday 22/05/2025 at 20:00 my 10 month old son was admitted to the hospital through casualty centre where we waiter 3 hours for an open bed in Paediatric ward only to find out the ward is full and we have to go to general ward. (Were they not able to know no one wil be discharged at 21:00 at night sooner? Maybe not.) This was 11:00 and after 2 attempts to put up a drip for my baby which is obviously very traumatic for him, he’s a baby, the sister in paeds ward got it up and at 11:40 we were settled in general ward waiting to be admitted, this whole time no one ever fetched the prescribed medication and only then was the process started. My baby and I were so tired and just wanted to go to sleep since he’s already nit feeling well. It took the staff 2hours to eventually get the medicine and administer it to him. We went to bed after I begged them that this is taking so long and baby is tired and fussy and they finished up just before 2:00 when we finally got some rest. 2 hours just to administer medication. They did not know how to calculate the correct doses since its paediatric doses. How are you a registered nurse and you can’t do basic maths? Then I informed the Sr that the drip is leaking and it’s hurting my baby and she said “ it’s fine, most of the meds are going in.” They dit not even bother to open up the bandage and see whats going on. Then she and the staff nurse (who came in while eating her Simba chips, wiping her hands clean on her uniform and donned her gloves to assist with the drip- talk about bedside manners let alone hand hygiene) tried to figure it out for about 40mins till I just said leave it the paediatrician will come put up a new one. Note that they were talking in their language the whole time and then ask me questions the continue in their language again, letting me be so confused the whole time.

I also had to let the Sr know that a huge air bubble is about to enter my baby's vein because she flushed it out of the machine so the noise will stop but never flushed the whole line.

The next morning at 4:40. 4:40am. Do you know how early 4:40am is especially after a night like that? The cleaner came in with a bang and switched on the lights and mopped 2 mops then left the room with lights on and dior open. Now me and my baby both got 2 hours of sleep in, ok 2 and a half before we got rudely woken by a freaking cleaner who halfway mopped the floor then left.

This was a horrible experience for me and my baby and unprofessional bedside manner is the least I can describe it as.

Please train your personnel basic manners and also be sure your staff knows basic maths.
